Going into my second year teaching kinder and the hardest thing last year was...... teaching students to write. So, this summer I have spent time thinking about what I want to do starting in the beginning of the year. I have seen many different ways to teach students to write. I have rarely seen a wrong way. Each way has been different. I only know that I must teach the way I feel comfortable and see the most growth in my students. So, slow and steady is the way for me. We are starting the year with labels. Labeling everything around us. Sticky notes everywhere. We will also be making anchor charts with guided/interactive writing (labeling the pictures). I have also created a few pages to help with this activity for independent practice.
