So, we got our worms (100 of them) yesterday from the DO. Today the kids were each given a bunch to observe. We did a few experiments with the wormys. First we talked about how to handle the worms and how delicate they really are. We also discussed that, yes they look kinda slimy and gross, but they are actually really helpful to nature. The kids got to examine them with magnifying glasses. We added a few drops of water to see how they responded to it. We also made dark "tents" out of paper to see if the worms were more attracted to the darkness (they were). All in all, the kids loved holding and examining the worms. They drew lots of pictures and made lots of notes about what they observed. Little scientists in the making. I made this to go along with our soils and worm unit. Pick up your free copy here... Worms
